The Whistler Children's Chorus welcomes all youths and young adults to join this non-auditioned choir. The choir rehearses at the Spring Creek Elementary school, in Whistler, BC, Canada.
The Whistler Children's Chorus is a registered non-profit society. It is the beneficiary of much community support including grants from the Resort Municipality of Whistler and the Whistler-Blackcomb Foundation. Funding for our choral risers was provided by the Festival of Lights. The choir also gratefully acknowledges the support of Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church for our performance venue.
Throughout each year the choir performs at community events in Whistler such as Canada Day, The Christmas Eve Carol Service, and the municipal Remembrance Day ceremony. In addition, the choir presents several concerts every year.
The choir has also taken part in Choral Riffs (BC Choral Federation of Canada Celebration 2010 event), "A Celebration of Canada" (performance at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Vancouver for the Prime Minister of Canada and the IOC delegates), and ceremonies for the Olympic Bid announcement on July 2nd, 2003.
During the 2004/2005 season, the choirs participated in the Vancouver Kiwanis Music Festival and the Whistler Music Festival. In November 2004, the choirs presented "Songs of War & Peace - a concert of remembrance." As well, the choir sang for Whistler's "Celebration 2010 Cultural Cabaret".
The choir has hosted other choruses such as the Vancouver Bach Children's Choir, the White Rock Children's Choir, Langely Children's Choir, and the Pembertunes.
As participants in SEVEC, the choir has also taken part in a choir exchange to Georgetown, Ontario in 2003, and with the Pictou District Honour Choir from Nova Scotia in 2005 and with Cure Antoine-Laballe from Laval Quebec in 2007.
